Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM)
We offer NHS and Privately Funded Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM)
ABPM tests over 24 hours
We offer NHS and Privately Funded Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) tests over 24 hours by using a cuff attached to a portable device that’s worn on your waist or pouch. You can continue with your daily activities during this time.
You can get your blood pressure checked at Camden Pharmacy without needing to see a GP first. We have a Consultation Room available to talk privately.
Free NHS blood pressure check service
Adults aged 40 or over can get their blood pressure checked for free unless they have high blood pressure or have had it checked in the last 6 months.
You can get a free blood pressure check if you:
- are aged 40 or over (adults aged 35 to 39 with a family history or risk of heart disease may be tested too)
- live in England
You cannot get a free blood pressure check if you:
- already have high blood pressure
- have had your blood pressure checked by a healthcare professional in the past 6 months
What happens when you get your blood pressure checked?
Our pharmacist, or a member of the pharmacy team, will wrap a blood pressure cuff around your upper arm to measure your blood pressure. They will then share the result with you.
Depending on the result, they might:
- give you advice to support healthy living
- give you a blood pressure monitor to take home with you and return later
- advise you to see a GP
- If you’re registered with a GP surgery, your blood pressure reading will be added to your GP health record. It will not be shared with anyone unless your blood pressure is very high or very low and you need urgent medical help.
Give us a call or just pop into the pharmacy to find out more.
